Record what happened — The Register

1. Before you start

Recording with the Register makes you a client of Violet Co Legal. That means what you tell us is legally privileged — it belongs to you, and we can't be made to hand it over or talk about it.

Three things to know:

Nothing happens unless you choose it. Your record sits safely with our solicitors.
The person you name is never contacted by the Register.
You can pause, withdraw, or delete everything whenever you like, by asking us.

2. About you Your name Your legal name, as it appears on your ID. Only our solicitors see it. What you'd like us to call you Optional. Pronouns Optional. In the live service, this is where you would photograph your driver licence or passport and take a quick selfie. We do this for one reason: so that no one can register pretending to be you, or pretending to be a survivor to pollute the Register. The check is done once and the images are not kept on your record.

3. What happened

Say as much or as little as you want. You don't have to describe everything now, or ever. A solicitor can help you add to this later, at your pace.

What kind of harm was it? Choose the closest. There is no wrong answer. When did it happen? A year, a season, an age you were — whatever you know. Where, or in what setting? For example: a workplace, a school or university, a sporting club, a church, a home, online. In your own words Optional. What you write here is privileged and stays with your solicitor.

4. The person who harmed you

Why we ask this. The Register works by noticing when different people name the same person. We compare the details below with other records — nothing else — and only a solicitor can confirm a connection is real. The person is never contacted, and nothing here is ever published. You can leave any of these blank.
